Hot Forming
Forging: 1100 to 900℃, slowing cooling in furnace.
Heat Treatment of Hot Work Steel H21 / 1.2581
Annealing: 750 to 800℃, slow cooling in furnace (10-20℃/hr), down to approx. 600℃, cooling in air. Hardness after annealing: max. 240 HB.
Stress relieving: 600 to 650℃, slow cooling in furnace. Hold in neutral atmosphere for 1 to 2hours.
Hardening: 1070 to 1150℃, oil, salt bath 500 to 550℃, air. Hold 15 to 30 minutes. Hardness, 48 to 52 HRC, in oil or salt bath; 44 to 48 HRC in air.
Tempering: 550 to 700℃. Slowly heating to tempering temperature right after hardening. Recommended to temper 2 or 3 times to increase toughness.
